Insider Apr 2020: Rules of royal finances will no longer apply to Meghan and Harry as they complete their transition to their "progressive new role" within the royal family.
The couple will likely use book deals and speaking engagements to fund their luxurious tastes going forward, royal commentators previously told Business Insider. Even though Harry has never had a job outside of his military service, it likely won't take much effort for them to start raking in multimillion-dollar paychecks. The Sussexes have "great earning potential," royal commentator and author Kristen Meinzer told Business Insider.
Jan 2020: The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have walked away from the monarchy. They will no longer receive public funds for royal duties. "With the Queen's blessing, the Sussexes will continue to maintain their private patronages and associations". This new model will take effect in the Spring of 2020. Annual wage will be updated by then.
PrinceofWales.gov.uk 2017 annual report says: "funding for the official activities of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry 3,529 -" - divided by 3, it would mean that each would get about £1.676 million a year on top of their mothers investment profits of at least £0.5 million (see below). The report doesn't mention the amount anymore, but at the site of the Princeofwales.gov.uk says: "The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry, do not receive a Sovereign's Grant or a Parliamentary Annuity, but use the income from the Duchy of Cornwall."
